About Us
Choose Joy, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that’s dedicated to inspiring and encouraging young girls to live up to their full potential.
The mission of Choose Joy, Inc. is to empower young girls 8 – 18 years to be leaders and to help build character and self-esteem. The vision is to transition young girls into successful women in the community.
The three B’s - BUILD leadership, BUILD character and BUILD self-esteem.
Events
PROGRAMS/EVENTS: Choose Joy, Inc., provides an array of programs for young girls, who are affectionately called “Joybelles”, such as - sharing sessions, workshops, community service projects, field trips, mentoring programs and an annual Joyfest.
Founder
Choose Joy, Inc. was founded October 2, 2017 by Tonia Watson. Tonia realized the need for mentoring within the community, as there are many young girls that lack positive women in their lives. She decided to fulfill a vision that God placed in her heart to help make a difference. Tonia is a natural encourager and she believes that joy is a choice. No matter what happens in life it’s essential to keep a joyful attitude.
Tonia received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Management/Human Resources from The University of North Carolina at Charlotte and a Masters of Art Degree in Organizational Leadership from Bethel University, Minneapolis MN.
She has been married to her college sweetheart for 23 years and has two children, a 20 year old son and 14 year old daughter. She is an aspiring author and loves spending time with her family and friends, traveling, writing and serving at her church and within the community. Tonia resides in Charlotte, North Carolina.
